Childhood trauma linked to increased substance use, unexpected effects on heart rate and blood pressure in adolescents

A new study published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry reveals that childhood trauma significantly increases the likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors, including harmful alcohol consumption, smoking and illicit drug use, by the age of 18. The research is led by the University of Bath and the University of São Paulo.
